My Mother Died Today

Updated: Jan 29

My mother died today. My brother was with her, for her final few hours and minutes. It’s hard for all of us, but especially tough on him as he held her hand while she drew her last breaths on this Earth. She was no longer able to speak or swallow, and was no longer waking up. Her severe dementia, multiple brain tumours, and metastatic cancer finally overwhelmed her.

Jamie Anderson said that “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corner of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.

Grief is acceptance, and as such is one of the twelve timeless Truths.

I don’t know how I will feel now that the woman and soul that gave birth to me has drawn her last breath. I am feeling sad and low right now. Will I feel relief that the person who doled out so much Narcissistic abuse on me as a young child has died? I don’t know. I will see. My soul is at peace, and I believe that her’s is finally too. I said my final goodbyes. Yet my face is streaming with tears as I write this.

I have such mixed feelings of deep sadness and tremendous relief that my tormentor, abuser, and mother has died. To love someone is to see the face of God. You can't paint anything that you can't see. People don't change: She was incapable of giving unconditional love. But we can change. We are all equals.

The death of a mother is one of the most traumatic things someone can experience. If you are currently grieving your mother, give yourself Grace and be gentle and kind with your Self. I hear you. Whether you had a good relationship or not with her, there will always be grief associated with either the actual relationship you had or the one you wish you had. I, for one, am grieving the childhood that I never had.

As it states in 1 Corinthians 13 "If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all Faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing."

Now that you have passed, you have set me free: I will take over: I will reparent my inner child without you, and I will do so with unconditional love. I am transforming from loving to BEing love. This is the path of the heart, emotions, vulnerability, courage, and of authentic connection, and it is taking me to the essence of love. Are you ready to do the same? Are you ready to take your own path? My gift is to be your guide.

Grieving builds bridges and a rapprochement with your family and loved ones as the benefit from the price of your loss. The fresh start may set you free from conditioned family interactions. What you realise with grieving is that the divine is always with you.
