The Plastic Surgeon Who Found His Soul

As a plastic surgeon I performed reconstructive surgery for cancer and trauma, and also cosmetic surgery to mold individuals into their desired shape and size. The former improved patient satisfaction and their psychology. The latter did not necessarily make anyone happy. Many studies have shown that patients with breast implants have a higher risk of suicide than the general population. Why? Because the only way to find true joy is to take a very tailored and individualised Hero's Journey and to do the inner work required. Nothing that changes individuals on the outside can make them feel good inside. That is a spiritual Truth, and perhaps a psychological one too...


The plastic surgeon who found his soul


Four years ago, my life imploded due to previously high-functioning undiagnosed mental illnesses, which I have been very candid about, despite having succeeded beyond possibility in my profession. I was driven to two suicide attempts. Why? Because a job cannot fix spiritual dis-ease. No injection, operation, job, person, place, thing, event, circumstance, or any form of external validation can bring you joy if you don’t have it to start with. That was the day that I realised that my new career would be one that guided people from the inside-out, rather than fixing people from the outside-in. This is why I have dived into being a Deep Coach: It saved my own life, and has allowed me to turn around and guide the next person who is lost on the spiritual journey that is life. This writing is not to be mistaken for fiction, as one would read in tabloids or on social media, where, like cosmetic surgery, they are a medium for creating masks and fantasy. Masks kill. In stark contrast, my new purpose is to guide people in taking their masks off, becoming authentic, vulnerable, and integrated, to remember who they truly are, to ‘get real’, and to take the non-fiction journey of a lifetime, coming home to their real Selves: Their souls. Once you identify with your own soul, you are empowered to see it in others. Once you see it in others, so do they…


As Jesus said in Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.“


Mother Theresa said “Joy is prayer; joy is strength: joy is love; joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.”


I have taken my surgical mask off and found my soul. Are you ready to take off your mask, bare your soul, and find your joy?


Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you: Listen in such a way that others love to speak to you.


George Bernard Shaw wrote that “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” Are you ready to change your mind?

I have a Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences from Trinity College, Cambridge; a Master's Degree in Philosophy from Trinity College, Cambridge; a PhD Doctorate in Scientific Research from University College London (UCL); a Medical Degree (MD/MBBS) from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London and have been a doctor and reconstructive trauma and cancer surgeon in London for 20 years. I have a number of other higher qualifications in science and surgery. I have published over 50 peer reviewed PubMed cited scientific journal articles, have been an associate editor and frequent scientific faculty member, and am the author of several scientific books. I have been awarded my Diploma in Transformative Life Coaching in London, which has International Coaching Federation (ICF) Accreditation, as well as the UK Association for Coaching (AC), and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). I have been on my own transformative journey full time for over five years and I am ready to be your guide to you finding out who you really are and how the world works.
